Charwaha Schools were in Far Better Shape than Schools in Bihar Today: Shivanand

Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national Vice President Shivanand Tiwari, taking a dig at the Nitish administration, said that the ‘Charwaha Schools’ during the Lalu-Rabri regimes were in a much better shape than the condition of schools in Bihar now.

“Compared to the current education situation in Bihar, we can say that Charwaha Vidayalayas were in a much better shape. It is regretful that Charwaha Vidyalaya, that was started as a noble experiment, was not allowed to succeed in Bihar,” Tiwari said at a press conference at party office in Patna on Wednesday.

The RJD leader, who was brought out of his self-imposed retirement by party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav after the collapse of Grand Alliance government in Bihar last year, accused the government of allowing the leak of Biology question paper on the first day of the BSEB exam on Tuesday.

“I guarantee you that the same question paper that went viral in Nawada was given to the students appearing in the test even though the BSEB officials claimed that the leak was done an hour and a half after the test had already begun,” he said.

Accusing the NDA government of playing politics with the future of Bihar students, Tiwari said that instead of setting up new schools and making land available to landless schools, the Chief Minister was busy merging schools into other schools.

RJD leaders, who have traditionally pooh-poohed education in the past as evidenced by the failure of party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s two sons to finish school or college and his insistence on the importance of ‘lathi’ (or batons) over pen, have been, of late, raising the issue of dwindling education scenario in Bihar due to the Chief Minister’s failure to formulate a better education policy in the state.

Earlier, Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, who could not finish his intermediate course, had accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of gutting education in Bihar saying youths of Bihar had to go out of state to acquire quality education.
