Deal seems a steal? Beware

Patna: That super deal on your dream car online might actually be a steal. The Patna police have arrested a person selling stolen four-wheelers through OLX.com.

The Kotwali police a few days back got a complaint from city resident Mukesh Kumar that the papers of the Indica that he had bought online from one Arun Rai were forged.

Mukesh came to know about the forged papers after he reached the District Transport Office (DTO) for some paper clearance. When Mukesh tried to contact Arun, his mobile phone was switched off. Mukesh then lodged a complaint at Kotwali police station.

“On Wednesday we arrested Arun from Patna Junction while he was dealing with a customer,” said Kotwali police station house officer (SHO) Ram Shankar Singh.

The police also recovered six cars from his possession and believe that all of them are stolen. Police sources said Arun used to steal cars and after making some changes to them would sell them off online with forged papers in connivance with some DTO staff.

“This is not the first case of stolen items on OLX,” a police officer said.
