Diaspora help for Bihar
1 min readPatna: Around a dozen attendees to the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event from the US are likely to visit Bihar to explore business opportunities. The event will be held in January 2019.
“The next Pravasi Divas function is scheduled to be held in Varanasi and I want to bring around a dozen of the participants in the event to Bihar so that they could explore investment opportunities in the state,” said Alok Kumar, vice-president of the Federation of Indian Association of the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut area which organises the India Day parade in New York.
New Jersey-base Alok, a software engineer and co-owner of an information technology consulting firm there, traces his roots to Darbhanga. These days, he is meeting Bihar government officials and ministers to prepare the groundwork for the proposed visit of the diaspora team to the state.
He said that the idea of bringing the team to Bihar struck him because Patna is easy to reach from Patna.
Alok said he planned to felicitate some ministers from Bihar in the special session for guests from the US at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event so that the state could get an opportunity to showcase investment and business opportunities.
“I am hoping to get a positive response from the state government,” he added.
Alok also met Super 30 founder Anand Kumar.
