Patna: A meeting of the education committee of Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) was organised at the civic body’s office at Mauryalok Complex on Thursday and presided over by mayor Sita Sahu.

PMC commissioner Keshav Ranjan Prasad, ward councillors, officials of municipal body and education department officials attended it.

The education committee passed a proposal to give maternity leaves to teachers. It also approved a proposal to conduct re-training for teachers even if they had failed thrice in the examination followed by their training earlier. However, the committee didn’t approve the proposal of appointment of teachers on compensate grounds. The committee said since the state had decided not to go for regular appointment of teachers in the present situation, the proposal could not be given a go-ahead.

The committee also decided in case teachers need more than 20 days leave, that has to be approved by the recruiting committee as principals were authorised to approve leaves only up to 20 days.

“All government schools which fall in the municipal area fall under the control of the education committee of the corporation. Issues ranging from school management to others are taken up by the education committee of the corporation. We have decided to organise the meeting of the education committee regularly,” said mayor Sahu.
