Lure-&-rape cry in Kishanganj

2 min read

Patna: A 20-year-old was lured by a youth and subsequently raped by him and his associates in Kishanganj district, the police said on Friday.

The woman, said to be a resident of a village falling under the jurisdiction of Kochadhaman police station in Kishanganj district, reported the incident to the woman police station on Thursday, prompting the police to conduct raids to nab the culprits.

The station house officer (SHO) of Kishanganj woman police station, Mahashweta Sinha, said a youth identified as Danish sexually assaulted her on January 8. When she protested, he promised to marry her. As a result, she kept the matter under wraps.

Last week, Danish took her to Sri Nagar where they stayed in a hotel. He asked her to have a cup of tea, which was laced with intoxicants. When she fell unconscious, Danish and his friends took turns raping her. She somehow managed to flee and reached her home where she narrated her ordeal. Her relatives took her to the Kochadhaman police station to lodge a complaint but the police suggested the family visit the women’s police station.

“The police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation. We have revealed the names of the offenders and hope they will be put behind bars,” said a close relative of the girl.

Minor raped

In another incident, a minor girl belonging to the Scheduled Castes was allegedly raped by a youth at a village falling under the jurisdiction of Sikarpur police station in West Champaran district on Thursday. The incident took place when she was returning home from her agricultural fields.

In a swift action, the police conducted a raid at Pokhra Chowk and arrested the tormenter, identified as Pradeep Choudhary. Police said that Choudhary had escaped from his ancestral village to dodge the police. “We have produced the accused in court, which has remanded him in 14-day judicial custody,” a police officer said.

The station house officer of Sikarpur police station C.P. Gupta said the girl had been admitted to the local hospital for treatment. “The police will submit a chargesheet against the accused at the earliest to ensure speedy justice to the girl,” he said.
