Darbhanga: A minor girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a van driver in Bihar’s Darbhanga district in the early hours on Friday. However, a police patrolling party nabbed the accused from the spot and rescued the girl.
The victim has been sent to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for medical test.
Darbhanga Superintendent of Police, Satyaveer Singh, told News18 that the accused had been sent to judicial custody after filing of an FIR.
The accused, Paras Kumar Yadav, was on way to his native village Sahila from Darbhanga but stayed for a while at the home of his relative. The victim’s house was adjacent to the house where the accused was staying for that particular time. At around 1am, he called the girl while leaving for his house.
“When I came out to see him, he forcefully covered my mouth and pulled me into his van. He stopped the vehicle in a secluded place and raped me. A police patrolling vehicle upon hearing my cries came for my rescue,” said the victim.
SSP Satyaveer Singh said, “The police acted swiftly. If they had not reached on the spot the accused could have harmed the girl. We have recorded her statement.”
However, accused Paras claimed innocence but confessed he was caught with the girl in a secluded area.
The police will file charges after receiving medical report of the girl.
