NRI hospital manager murdered, 3 detained

Bokaro: A 70-year-old non-resident Indian (NRI) from Germany, Vinay Kumar Singh, was murdered by unidentified miscreants at Chilgadda Gram under Jaridih police station of the district. The deceased was the project manager of Asha Vihar Hospital, which is run by Peace Bird Society. Police have detained three persons in this connection.

Singh had gone to Ranchi on Wednesday morning for some work. On his way back at night he met his colleague Rabindra Mahto at Jainmoad. He was riding back to the hospital on Mahto’s motorbike, when six miscreants intercepted them near Chilgadda and attacked them with sticks. Injured Mahto, said, “Six persons in two motorbikes stopped us near Chilgadda. Before we could understand anything, they started beating us with sticks and stones. I became unconscious. When gained consciousness, I found they left the place and I ran to Asha Vihar and informed my colleague there.”

Following Mahto’s information, the other staff reached the spot for help and found Singh lying senseless behind the bushes on the roadside. They rushed Singh to Bokaro General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. SP Bokaro, A Vijaylaxmi, said that police visited the spot soon after they were informed about the incident. Preliminary investigation indicates that there was a dispute between members of the old and new committees in Asha Vihar. Vinay Kumar Singh was a part of the new committee which is running Asha Vihar Hospital.

An FIR has been lodged in this connection against the five persons based on the complaint lodged by Sukdev Rajak, secretary of Peace Bird Society. Singh belonged to Chapra district of Bihar, but was a citizen of Germany.

Rajak said Singh used to receive threat calls from unknown persons. He alleged that the old committee members including Dipak Kumar Gupta, Sukumar Besra, Rekha Gupta were involved Based on Rajak’s allegation, police have detained Gupta, Besra and Rekha in this connection.
