One person lynched in Jamui

Jamui: One person was lynched by locals as they mistook him to be a thief at Lakhapur village under Model police station in the district today.

Police said one Yogendra Singh, a native of Lakhapur village, was returning home from a marriage function in the early hours this morning when he was spotted by locals who
started thrashing him to be a thief.

“The injured Yogendra was rushed to a local hospital when one among the crowd recognised him”, police said adding that he died during treatment in the hospital.
A case in this connection had been registered, naming four persons of Lakhapur village as accused, police further said adding that raids were being carried out to nab them.

“The body has been sent for postmortem”, police stated.
