Police to attach absconding SHO’s property

GAYA: Police will soon attach the property of absconding Chakand police station SHO Pawan Kumar.

The SHO was arrested on May 19 for receiving a bribe of Rs1.16 lakh , which was recovered from his possession.

The arrest was made by SSP Rajiv Mishra who, on receiving the complaints against the SHO raided the police station premises and arrested him for receiving the bribe and helping some liquor smugglers.

The SHO, who was kept in the custody of a DSP, subsequently managed to escape. Several raids conducted by the police to nab the absconding SHO proved futile which caused deep embarrassment to senior police officials.

Confirming the move to attach the property SSP Mishra said, “Pre-attachment proceedings have been completed. Court order, a mandatory requirement for property attachment has been received. The attachment order will be soon executed.”.

Soon after the SHO’s escape, the SSP had ordered an internal inquiry to fix responsibility for the custodial escape and identify police personnel who may have helped the SHO in escaping. ASP Sanjay Bharti was made the inquiry officer.

Asked about the inquiry report and follow up action, the SSP said that now when the issue has been brought to his notice, he would pursue the matter and take effective action. Zonal IG Naiyyer Hasnain Khan said that he has directed the SSP to take take action against those who were entrusted with the SHO’s custody.
