Raids on to nab man disrobing girl in viral video
1 min readBiharsharif/Patna: A video of a middle-aged man attempting to disrobe a girl as part of moral policing went viral on the social media, prompting the Nalanda district police to lodge an FIR. The culprit is yet to be arrested.
“We got to know about the video on Monday and traced the girl within hours… She told us the incident took place in Barethi village under the Hisla police station area on Sunday,” Hilsa SDPO Muttafique Ahmed said on Tuesday, adding she had named one Srikant Prasad and other unidentified people as accused.
A native of Barethi, the 40-plus man along with at least four youngsters is seen scolding the girl and her male friend for allegedly kissing each other. The spot is a secluded place with only farmlands and no dwelling units visible in the background.
The boy and the girl, in their early 20s, are visibly shaken and repeatedly denying the charge. One of the accused is also heard demanding the Aadhaar card from the girl to ascertain her identity.
In the middle of all this conversation, the middle-aged man suddenly lifted the girl in his arms and tried to disrobe her while taking her towards the fields. It was only after other villagers assembled that the accused fled.
“Raids are on to arrest all the culprits, including Srikant,” Nalanda SP Sudhir Kumar Podika said on Tuesday evening.
