JD-U leader KC Tyagi, while lauding India Today’s sting operation bringing to the fore the drug menace in Bihar, said, “It is unfair to call Bihar UdtaBihar. The situation in Bihar is very different from Punjab, where even academies were closed down.”
JD-U has promised to take prompt action after this expose. When asked whether imposing liquor prohibition in the state had led to this, Tyagi said that prohibition was the right decision taken by the government.
In 2016, more than 382 kilos of cannabis or ganja was seized in Bihar. But in the 4 months of 2017 alone after prohibition came into force, the amount confiscated has already crossed 7,000 kilos.
