School van driver rapes boy
2 min readPatna: A 10-year-old Class III student of a school in Khagail area was beaten up and allegedly raped by a school van driver on Tuesday evening.
The boy’s father, who owns a shop, lodged a police complaint at Khagual police station on Wednesday. In the complaint, he said the van driver lured his son with a ride and then sodomised him.
“My son was playing outside the house around 6pm on Tuesday evening,” the boy’s father told The Telegraph.
“The school van driver, Arman, was passing by and lured my son by offering him a ride in the van. We got worried when he did not reach home till 7pm.”
The boy’s father and neighbours began looking for the him frantically, but failed to locate him.
The boy returned home around 8.45pm and narrated his ordeal. He said Arman had taken him to a place near the Hydraulic Colony and after beating him up sexually assaulted him.
Arman also allegedly threatened the boy with dire consequences if he told anybody, including his family members, about the incident.
The boy’s shocked family members called up Mukesh Kumar, who runs vans for different schools in the area.
Arman reports to him.
Mukesh arrived at the house but left pleading ignorance about the incident.
Around half-an-hour after Mukesh left, some residents told him they had seen Arman in the Hydraulic Colony area.
The boy’s father and other residents rushed to the spot to catch Arman but he fled after handing over the keys of the school van to Mukesh, who too was at the spot.
“Based on the complaint filed by the boy’s family members, we have registered a case against the school van driver under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Posco Act) 2012,” said Sanjay Pandey, station house officer of Khagual police station.
“The police are conducting raids to nab the van driver,” he added.
Till a year ago, Arman used to pick and drop the boy from school.
But last year, the boy’s father decided to avoid the van service.
