Students, one from UK, held with liquor in car
2 min readPatna: Three young men from well-to-do families were arrested with a liquor bottle in their car on Wednesday evening.
Shreyansh Singh (24), whose father runs two prestigious private schools in the state capital, and his two friends Vishal Raj (25) and Shashwat Kumar (23) were returning from the Kankarbagh area and the bottle was kept under the driver’s seat. They were caught during a vehicle checking drive at the Rajendra Nagar roundabout.
“The police recovered a bottle of Royal Stag from the Honda City,” said Kadam Kuan police station house officer Ajay Kumar.
Shreyansh is studying management at a university in England and he came to Patna on holiday a few days ago. Vishal lives in Delhi and is preparing for competitive examinations while Shashwat lives in Patna and is also preparing for competitive examinations.
Police sources said that the three first claimed they don’t know who had kept the liquor bottle in their car, and they youths were not drunk.
On Thursday, the three were produced before the magistrate and sent to jail.
In March this year, a drunk employee of a private airline was arrested after his car almost crashed into the vehicle of deputy superintendent of police (DSP), law and order, Shibli Nomani. In January, four youths including three students were arrested from Chanakya National Law University on charges of consuming liquor on the hostel premises.
On Wednesday, the police also arrested four youths in Kadam Kuan and recovered 59 liquor bottles from them. Over the last 24 hours, the Patna have arrested 57 persons – 20 of them drunk – and recovered 100 liquor bottles.
