Survey over junk food on cards
1 min readPatna: The government will commission a survey in select places to study the adverse impact of consumption of junk food, according to health minister Mangal Pandey’s written reply tabled in the Legislative Council on Tuesday.
MLC Sanjeev Kumar Singh had raised the issue during Question Hour, but the minister tabled the reply in writing as directed by Council vice-chairman Harun Rasheed as the House was witnessing tumultuous scenes.
After the survey an awareness drive would be launched to make people aware of the adverse effect of junk food.
Doctors in state
In his written reply to another question, by MLC Radha Charan Sah, the minister said there was one government doctor available for every 17,685 persons in the state.
If one takes into account the number of registered doctors in the state, the state had one doctor for every 2,911 people. According to WHO norms, there should ideally be a doctor for every 1,000 persons.
