Taxi deal at railway stations

1 min read

Patna: The Danapur division of East Central Railway has signed an agreement with a Bangalore-based company to start taxi service at the Danapur railway station, Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar Terminal here.

Danapur divisional railway manager Ranjan Prakash Thakur said the service from Smart Commuting Services Pvt Ltd will start in 10 days, and passengers can avail the service from the three stations in Patna.

“We had approached Ola cabs for the service but did not get a response. I personally followed up with the company but found they were not interested in the project. The agreement was finally signed with the Bangalore company. It will be an application-based service,” Thakur said.

Residents and passengers can download the application from Google Play Store.

The latest development is in line with Indian Railways’ categorisation of stations, under which Patna Junction is among the top 20 railway stations. With its rank, Patna Junction is set to get facilities on par with airport services.

Based on reactions to the taxi service, the application will be expanded to cover the Patliputra railway station too.
