Tejashwi meets jawan kin

2 min read

Patna: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Saturday visited Piro in Bhojpur district, around 50km west of Patna, to meet family members of slain CRPF jawan Mujahid Khan who died fighting militants in Jammu’s Karan Nagar on Monday.

Tejashwi spent nearly 45 minutes with the family member of the slain jawan and handed over Rs 2 lakh from the party fund to Mujahid’s mother Hasina Khatun.

He spoke to Mujahid’s eldest brother Chand Khan who had earlier refused to accept Rs 5 lakh as ex-gratia from the Bihar government.

Mujahid’s father Abdul Khair Khan was also present there apart from another elder brother Mohammad Imtiyaz Khan.

After meeting the family, Tejashwi hit out at the Nitish Kumar government for insulting martyrs. “It is shameful and sad that two soldiers from Bihar laid down their lives for the country and nobody from the Nitish government cared to pay homage. No one could find time to pay tributes to them. Rather Nitish’s ministers were busy celebrating Valentine’s Day on February 14,” Tejashwi said.

He also visited the place where Mujahid was buried and offered soil on his grave. “The Rs 5 lakh compensation extended by Nitish is a joke. The same government has been providing a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families of those killed in road accidents and after consuming spurious liquor.” He alleged that for Nitish there was no difference between a martyr and man dying after consuming spurious liquor and demanded a compensation of Rs 35 lakh for the family.
