Trader shot dead in Muzaffarpur

Muzaffarpur: Criminals shot dead a trader, Dipak Kumar, near Maidapur under Sadar police station on Sunday night. Dipak, along with his employee Rajesh, was returning home after shutting his grocery shop when three bike-borne men intercepted them and pumped three bullets into his head.

Dipak, a resident of Patahi died on the spot and the criminals looted his motorcycle, a bag and fled. Rajesh, the pillion rider, cried for help but villagers gathered at the site late and by that time Dipak had died and the murderers had fled.

Angry over the incident, hundreds of villagers of Patahi clashed with the police. Protesters blocked the Muzaffarpur-Chhapra road for five hours.

The villagers also heckled the policemen.

Superintendent of police, city, Upendra Nath Verma rushed to the blockade site and pacified the angry villagers. SSP Harprit Kaur said the culprits would be arrested within two days.
