Woman demands divorce over noise pollution, writes to Modi and Nitish
2 min readA woman in Vaishali district of Bihar has sought divorce from her husband because he failed to curb noise pollution around his residence. According to Prabhat Khabar, the woman has made the appeal for divorce after approaching National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The woman, Sneha Singh, reportedly has problems with loud speakers used for religious purposes around her residence. A resident of road number 3 in Hajipur, Sneha has alleged that miscreants intentionally play loud music in the name of religion to disturb people in vicinity.
She has repeatedly made attempts to move the administration to act in this regard, but no action has been initiated so far. Apart from district administration, Sneha has also written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar seeking their intervention.
Failing to get any response, the woman has now demanded divorce from her husband, Rakesh Singh. Sneha and Rakesh tied the knot four years ago in a love marriage. Rakesh, who is physically challenged, has in the past been an international badminton player. Demanding a divorce, Sneha has said that she cannot think of spending her life with a man who cannot give her the security needed.
Rakesh, on the other hand, has blamed the administration for its apathy. He says that he is not in a position to mess with his neighbours.
Attempts are being made by family members to pacify Sneha. They say that they have even complained to the police regarding the issue. They further alleged that some miscreants even pelted stones at their residence but no help was offered by police department.
