PATNA: A trap team of vigilance investigation bureau led by DSP Arun Kumar Singh arrested social welfare department’s supervisor Ruby Kumari (47) while allegedly accepting Rs 50,000 as bribe near the Jehanabad railway station on Tuesday.

Vigilance sources said Ruby, posted in the office of the child development project officer of Ratni Faridpur block in Jehanabad district, was accepting bribe from one Tuntun Kumar to help in recruitment of his wife Shanti Devi as an auxiliary nursing maid.

The source said Tuntun lodged a complaint against the supervisor with the vigilance bureau on May 15, alleging she was demanding Rs 3 lakh as bribe.

“The accusation was found true in our preliminary probe after which the trap team was formed,” a vigilance officer said, adding Ruby after persuasion by Tuntun had agreed to recruit his wife on payment of Rs 2.5 lakh and initiate the recruitment process after taking Rs 50,000, while the balance amount was to be paid later.
