Former Union Minister and BJP MP Dr C P Thakur on Sunday said Bihar did not require special status category as once it was accorded to the state, other states would also begin demanding for the same.
Dr Thakur told media persons here that he was not in favour of Bihar getting special status category as it would open pandora box of similar demands from other states which would become difficult for the Central government to handle.
Bihar had been developing on accelerated pace under the regime of NDA government in the state and there was no need to grant it special status, he added.
Former Union Minister said that special status should be granted only to newly created states. When asked about Mr Kumar demanding special status for Bihar, he said it could be his logic but the state did not require special status at all.
