Agriculture department and Bihar Agriculture University officials met India’s ambassadors to Ukraine, Bahrain, Mexico and Sudan on Thursday to discuss the possibilities for agricultural development in Bihar vis-à-vis academic, scientific and commercial collaboration with these countries.

The meeting discussed possibilities for collaboration in agricultural research, education and technology development and transfer, joint research to enhance pulse crop productivity and development of professional skills among students by organising international training programmes. Capacity building of faculty, student-faculty exchange programme, investment in creation of supply chain, storage and other marketing facilities to enhance export of mango, litchi, Katarni rice and organic vegetables were also discussed.

India’s ambassadors to Mexico, Bahrain, Sudan and Ukraine appreciated the efforts of the state government and the university for planning and implementation of agricultural developmental activities in the form of Bihar Krishi Road Map. Text by Sanjeev Verma, Telegraph picture
