Home guards of Bihar call off indefinite strike after 25 days

Home guards of Bihar who were on indefinite strike since May 15 returned to work on Tuesday after assurance from I.G Kundan Kishnan and home guard DIG, P.N Rai that their demands will be accepted.

Around 70,000 home guards of Bihar had declared indefinite strike on May 15 demanding increase in retirement pension, per day salary and travel conveyance.

“We had a meeting with Amir Subhani, principal secretary (home) yesterday and he assured that our demands will be heard. Today many of us gathered at Gandhi Maidan where P.N Rai and Kundan Krishnan met us and gave us a letter that our demands will be accepted,” said Sudheshwar Pandit, Bihar Home Guard, Swayam Sevak Sangh.

However, the home guards have warned that if their demands are not accepted within 15 days they would resume their strike.
