14 killed, 8 injured due to thunderstorm
1 min readIn Bihar, 14 people were killed and 8 injured due to thunderstorm and lightening in several parts parts of the state last night. Maximum four deaths have been reported from Motihari. Remaining 10 casualties are from Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Kaimur and Gaya. Rail and road services have been disrupted in affected areas due to falling of trees and electric wire on track and roads.
Expressing grief over the incident Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced an ex gratia of rupees four lakh next to the kin of the deceased. Crops, including Mango, Litchi, Maize and Banana, have been destroyed due to storm. The MeT department has forecast more thunderstorm in the next 24 hours in several parts of the state.
In Andhra Pradesh, atleast seven persons were dead and three injured due to Thunderstorms in different districts of the state last night. Causality reported from Narasaraopeta, Sattenapalli, Phirangipuram, Muppalla and Mandal in Guntur District.
