Arms licences stick for Brajesh

1 min read

Patna: The district authorities on Saturday cancelled Brajesh Thakur’s arms licences and removed him from the post of the district level patients’ welfare committee.

The arms licenses were cancelled on the directive of Muzaffarpur district magistrate (DM) Mohammad Sohail. The DM said a notification to revoke the arms licences of Brajesh was issued on Friday.

“He (Brajesh) was issued licences of a rifle and a pistol in his name some years ago,” he said. Brajesh has been directed to deposit the licences and the arms with the town police station within two days. Sources said Brajesh’s name was also removed from the functionary of the district level patients’ health committee on the directive of the DM.

Earlier, the health department had issued directions to the State Aids Control Society to terminate the services of Brajesh’s NGO, Seva Sankalp Evam Vikas Samiti. The samiti was managing the shelter home, Balika Grih, on Sahu Road in Muzaffarpur.

The state government has ordered a probe on why officials of the social welfare department didn’t act on a report submitted by a child rights protection body on the functioning of the Muzaffarpur shelter home in November last year.
