Police said around 100kg explosives was recovered from one of the rooms on the first floor of the lodge and it belongs to a group of rebels operating in Jharkhand.
Patna SSP Vikas Vaibhav confirmed the recovery of explosives. “Patna police acted on a tip-off from our counterpart in Ranchi district of Jharkhand. We had information that a huge amount of explosives was stocked in Khemnichak locality by PLFI, a splinter group of CPI (Maoist) operative in Jharkhand,” said the SSP. A few days back, a PLFI supporter was arrested from the same locality.
Sources said the lodge is owned by one Rampravesh Rai alias Netaji. As a precautionary step, occupants of the lodge have been asked to evacuate the building. “In preliminary investigations, we have found that five-six boys were currently staying at the lodge and all of them used expensive bikes,” said a police source, adding it was too early to jump to any conclusion on their involvement in the crime.
Surprisingly, the bomb disposal squad and FSL team did not reach the spot even two hours after the recovery of explosives.
