CHHAPRA: State road construction department minister Nand Kishore Yadav on Thursday said a four-lane bridge would soon be constructed over the Ganga between Chhapra and Patna. He also announced that work on much-talked-about double-decker flyover at Chhapra will start this month. The proposed bridge over the Ganga will connect Dighwara and Danapur.
Addressing a gathering at Sripal Basant under Garkha block as part of the BJP’s ‘Mahasampark Abhiyan’ on completion of four years of NDA government at the Centre, the minister said the two projects would prove beneficial for the people in the district. “The double-decker flyover will ease the problem of frequent traffic jam in Chhapra town,” the minister said.
On the request of the locals, the minister announced that the width of the proposed Garkha-Manpur road will be increased from five to seven metres.
The minister highlighted several welfare schemes launched by the Union government. “Around 38 lakh underprivileged people have benefitted from the cooking gas connection scheme launched by the Centre. Steps are being taken to extend this scheme to 8 crore more people,” the minister said.
“The country cannot develop if villages are ignored. Keeping this in mind, the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre has electrified more than 18,000 villages across the country in less than 1,000 days,” he said.
