MLC’s sons disappear
2 min readPatna: Police raided BJP MLC and former Legislative Council chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh’s official bungalow at 2 Circular Road and his private residence in Sri Krishna Puri late on Thursday evening, searching for his sons Prashant Ranjan and Sushant Ranjan who have non-bailable arrest warrants against them for allegedly confining and thrashing a woman with the intention of sexually assaulting her on May 16.
A 24-year-old flight attendant has levelled the charges against the MLC’s sons, and a court on Thursday issued the warrants against the brothers under Section 354(B) (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intention to disrobe), Section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), Section 341 (punishment for wrongful restrain) and Section 504 (intentional insult with intention to provoke breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
However, the police raids to nab the brothers drew blank – as is often the case in Bihar when the accused are high-profile persons.
Patna superintendent of police (SP), central, D. Amarkesh said: “The raids were conducted at both the places, but Prashant and Sushant Ranjan were missing.”
The SP said that the police will conduct raids for two-three days more.
“If we fail to recover the two, we will go for issuing proclamation, which is the process for attachment of property, of the duo,” he said. “The police will try to find out whether the two youths have any property in their name and thereafter such property belonging to the two boys will be attached.”
Sources said that the brothers run the Cox & Kings travel agency franchise in Patna.
