Nalanda school owner held for ‘killing’ minor

BIHARSHARIF: Police on Wednesday arrested the owner and a teacher of a private residential school located at Karaiparsurai in Nalanda, three days after the body of a 10-year-old student of the school was found lying unattended in a hospital.

The deceased child, Kanhaiya Kumar of Muzaffarpur village under Nalanda PS area, was a student of Class III and was a hosteller of the said private school. He died under mysterious circumstances on June 17 following which the school authorities dumped his body in a hospital, said sources.

Sonu Kumar, father of the deceased child said, his son was killed by the school owner, Mukesh Kumar, teacher Amrendra Kumar and the woman principal after he saw the owner and the principal in a compromising position.

Sonu had lodged a complaint with the Karaiparsurai police station on June 17 itself, which was later converted into a named FIR against the three accused. “Police had initially registered an unnatural death case but after agitation by the villagers a named FIR was lodged on Tuesday,” said Sonu. Karaiparsurai PS SHO Rajesh Malakar said, “All the named accused were absconding after the FIR was lodged. On a tip-off, two of them were arrested on Wednesday. The principal is still evading arrest. The postmortem report is also awaited.”
