Nitish became the victim of his own politics as currently he is still exploring his new positioning in a changed political scenarioPatna/Gaya: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today pleaded innocence about a party leader wanted in a murder case sharing the dais with him at Gaya and claimed that it was an example of good governance that the man was arrested immediately.

“How can I know background of everybody sharing dais with me during an election rally?” he posed to reporters in Patna about Javed Khan, a former councillor of Gaya Municipality, against whom an arrest warrant was pending since December, sharing the dais with him at Gaya yesterday.

“But, the moment it came to our notice about an arrest warrant by a court against him, the government acted promptly to get him arrested, isn’t this an example of good governance?” he asked.

Asked if the episode did not put a question mark on his claim of good governance, Mr Kumar replied with a “no”.

Without naming BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, he asked “What about those who are distributing party symbols despite facing trial in cases?”

He, however, said that state JD(U) chief would inquire and take action as to how such a person was appointed to a party post in the district.

Mr Khan has been associated with the party for past two years and headed its district minority cell.

The warrant was issued for the murder of a property dealer Naushad Khan in April last year.

Mr Khan was subsequently produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate K K Singh who sent him to 14 days judicial custody.
