AGRA: A 26 year old woman, who allegedly tried to resolve her property dispute by posing as SDO (Sub divisional Officer), Muzzafarpur, Bihar, was arrested by the Aligarh police on Saturday.

According to police, Mamtesh Singh, a resident of Gaundalpur village in Iglas tehsil of Aligarh was posing herself as SDO in Bihar government with an identity of “Manu Sharma”. She claimed that she is the law graduate and PCS qualified from Bihar last year but could not join her training due to medical issues.

She was caught by SDM (Sub Divisional Magistrate), Koil in Aligarh on Saturday, when she approached him for demarcation of a disputed land, located in the village Devsaini.

Talking to TOI, SDM, Koil, Joginder Singh said that Mamtesh told him that she is posted as SDO, Muzzafarpur, Bihar. He said, incidentally, his batch mate is also posted there so he called him for checking her credentials but he denied of any SDO posted there with her name.

“When I told her that she was lying, she changed her story and said that she had been transferred from there and now posted at Araria district of Bihar,” said SDM Koil adding that when he again called his batch mate in Araria, he too denied.

Station house officer of Bannadevi police station, Jitendra Singh Dixit said a case under section 420 and 170 (personating a public servant) has been registered against her. Further investigations are on.
