Zoo licence renewal comes with suggestion
1 min readPatna: The central zoo authority (CZA) is set to renew the licence of Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park a.k.a Patna zoo this month.
The CZA licence is given for five years and Patna zoo’s licence will expire on April 30 this year.
“Recently, CZA member-secretary D.N. Singh visited the zoo and expressed happiness that the animals are being kept in a very good manner. We hope to get the licence renewed well in time,” a senior Patna zoo official said.
Singh also suggested changes in a few enclosures.
“He directed us to add some huts and a few structures in the chimpanzee enclosure and to renovate work and decongest the deer enclosures,” said the zoo official.
More than three million visitors visited the zoo, spread across 153 acres and housing over 1,300 animals of 108 species, in 2017-18. The zoo also has over 10,000 trees of 150 varieties, and a dedicated garden of medicinal plants of 60 varieties.
